The Story of On 3
Cape George Marine Works, under the renowned Cecil Lange, earned its reputation for crafting exceptional yachts. The company offered fully outfitted boats or partially built hulls, allowing owners to complete their vessels to their desired specifications. In the early days, many owners worked on their boats right in the Cape George yard, a tradition that is less common today but still embraced by the yard. Cape George Marine Works continues to welcome owners seeking retrofits or "spa treatments" for their boats.
In 2016, we took On 3 to the Cape George Marine Works yard for an extensive restoration. Their team expertly repaired the bulkhead beams, installed all-new mahogany toe rails and a new bowsprit, and ensured she remained dry and sound inside. Following their work, we lived at the yard for a year, undertaking a comprehensive overhaul. We replaced all electrical systems, electronics, plumbing, and much of the Sunbrella canvas. We also meticulously attended to the brightwork, bringing out the timeless beauty that Cape George boats are known for.
In 2018, we updated all standing rigging and replaced sections of the running rigging as needed. That same year, the boat, along with her mast and boom, was completely repainted. In 2021, we added custom sails, transforming her into a virtually new vessel.
On 3 is not just a boat; she’s a lovingly restored example of Cape George’s legacy, ready to sail and shine.
On 3: A Standout Vessel

On 3 truly shines as a remarkable vessel. Her hull and decks received a complete professional repaint in 2018, with all deck hardware meticulously removed, cleaned, and reinstalled following industry standards taught by the experts at Cape George Marine Works. This attention to detail ensures durability, preventing leaks and rot. Her main salon features thick, oiled mahogany flooring, not only adding elegance but also providing a slip-resistant surface.
The settees in On 3’s main salon are 6 feet long and equipped with lee cloths, offering a secure and comfortable sleeping space for cruisers during passages. These lee cloths even include convenient pockets for storing phones, headsets, or books within easy reach. The quarter berth, designed to sleep two, is notably spacious and comfortable, making it ideal for extended journeys. Underway, the boat accommodates up to six sleepers: two in the cockpit on 8-foot-long seats, two on the settees, and two in the quarter berth.
Below deck, On 3 makes a stunning first impression. Her mahogany beams and gleaming white walls beautifully contrast with the polished bronze portholes and fixtures. The solid mahogany standing chart table is both practical and an aesthetic highlight, functioning as a statement piece of furniture.
Guests often admire unique features such as the midship armoire located aft of the salon and the elegant secretary desk near the V-berth. Visitors also frequently comment on the spacious 8-foot cockpit, which comfortably hosts up to eight people for sundowners and provides ample room for stretching out during passages. Additionally, the wide, unobstructed side decks and high tow rails ensure safety and ease of movement, even when the boat heels.
With her combination of thoughtful design, timeless aesthetics, and practical features, On 3 is a vessel that stands out both at anchor and underway.

A Thoroughbred At The Top OF Her Game
With On 3, you’ll acquire a vessel cherished by owners who have valued and preserved the core strengths that have earned the Cape George brand its devoted following. Yet, she is far more than just a testament to tradition—she boasts modern upgrades that enhance both functionality and aesthetics. Unlike vessels that have languished unused in marinas, deteriorating as their electronics age, upholstery grows grimy, and mechanical gaskets dry and crack, On 3 is actively maintained, upgraded, and sailed.
On 3 represents the pinnacle of Cape George craftsmanship—a fine example of the most successful yacht ever produced by the brand. She is a thoroughbred in peak condition, ready and eager to sail.
